Job Description

Qualified Social Worker, Derby Council, Children's Assessment Team - Must be a Qualified Social Worker with a minimum of 2 years+ UK Social Worker experience within a Children's Social Work team

Our client is looking for a qualified Social Worker with 2 years+ UK Social Worker experience within a Children’s Social Work team

The team work extremely well together to ensure the safety of children under the close supervision of a supportive Team Manager

The responsibilities will include:

• Carry out child-focused assessments of need, including investigations of suspected child abuse, working jointly with colleagues from the Department, and from other Agencies where appropriate
• Develop appropriate service plans with associated procedures based upon assessed needs and eligibility criteria
• Ensure the delivery of appropriate services to children and their families according to their assessed needs and service plan.  This will include the rigorous implementation of eligibility criteria, and acting as Key Worker with children in need including those who are subject to Child Protection plans, as well as who are ‘Looked After’ by the Council.  It is also likely to include giving evidence in Court Proceedings, and the provision of a range of Reports
• Attend conferences, reviews, core groups and planning meetings, as appropriate
• Make case planning decisions which are consistent with the responsibilities and grading of the post
• Contribute to the development of the team’s Business Plan in conjunction with the Service Manager
• Maintain accurate and effective recording of information and action taken, as defined and specified by City Council policy and procedure
• Work as a team member attending team meetings and making an active contribution to the development of service delivery through the sharing of knowledge, information and skills
• Actively participate in consultations and regular individual supervision with the Team Manager, as required by the Departmental Supervision Policy
• Work proactively to promote good relationships with other professionals and agencies, as well as with colleagues within the Early Intervention & Integrated Safeguarding Service and the City Council
• 37 hours per week (flexible by negotiation)
• 3 month Temporary Contract
• Start date subject to DBS and reference clearance

The successful candidate will need to hold a DipSW or equivalent must be registered with the HCPC, have a current DBS and be a car driver.
